15 Best Places to Elope in Utah

Eloping in Utah

Utah has some of the most beautiful desert landscape in the world! You’ll find incredible cliffside views, slot canyons, red rock scenery, waterfalls, and some of my favorite hikes! Utah has five national parks, multiple national monuments, dozens of state parks, and other beautiful land through the entire state! It’s definitely one of the best places for an epic road trip too!

There’s also lots of cool activities you can incorporate into your Utah elopement like helicopter rides, horseback riding, hot air balloon rides, skydiving, ATVs, or off-roading in a Jeep! With so much diverse and gorgeous landscape to choose from, there’s so many spots to consider for where to get married in Utah!

Where to Elope in Utah

Moab Elopement

Moab is a quirky small town in the desert of Utah just a short drive from downtown, Arches National Park, and Canyonlands National Park. There, you’ll find Under Canvas Moab - an awesome “glamping” experience that’s the perfect combination of adventurous and luxurious. Yep, there’s even electricity and showers, and campfires and s’mores too!

Castle Valley Elopement

One of the most beautiful spots in the Moab area, Castle Valley is an oasis that resides in the shadows of Castleton Tower, sharing the horizon with the La Sal Mountains, red rock towers, and the Colorado River. Here you can catch some gorgeous sunsets here with orange glows on the mesas and the dark red sandstone. You can hike, bike, or ride on horseback through these incredible landscapes, and there’s also yurts here where you can get ready and relax for your Utah elopement!

Arches National Park Elopement

Arches National Park is a no-brainer as a spot to visit while in Utah, especially if you’re planning an epic adventurous Utah elopement! Arches features over 2,000 natural stone arches that make beautiful elopement ceremony backdrops! With glorious pinnacles, giant rock formations, and unique textures, Arches National Park should definitely be on your list for a Utah elopement! One of my personal favorite spots there is Delicate Arch!

Canyonlands National Park Elopement

Another of Utah’s glorious National Parks, Canyonlands National Park, features over 300,000 acres of stunning canyons, arches, and spires in the heart of Utah’s high desert in the southeast. Sculpted over years by water and gravity, these rugged landscapes make an incredible ceremony backdrop! Here, you’ll find Island in the Sky, where every overlook offers a glorious perspective of Canyonlands’ landscape, as well as Mesa Arch, Grand View Point, and Green River Overlook.

Dead Horse Point State Park Elopement

Sitting 2,000 feet above the Colorado River, Dead Horse Point State Park reminds me a lot of the Grand Canyon in Arizona! A glorious and colorful landscape carved over time with endless layers of erosion, this badlands area features iconic cliffs, swirling colors of purple, blue, tan, and red. There’s also some really cool yurts you can stay in there, which would be perfect for getting ready for your Utah elopement!

Zion National Park Elopement

Zion National Park is an incredible nature preserve in Southwest Utah featuring steep red rock cliffs, the Virgin River flowing into its heavenly Emerald Pools, and some pretty epic hikes! We actually backpacked the Zion Narrows (the narrowest part of Zion Canyon) back in 2018 where we were hiking in knee-deep in water almost the whole way - which was an awesome experience! Also, probably my all-time favorite hike is in Utah, called Angels Landing! There’s also a great little town called Springdale just before you enter the park, where you can grab some pizza and beer at Zion Pizza & Noodle!

Bryce Canyon National Park Elopement

Bryce Canyon National Park offers iconic red rocks, pink cliffs, expansive landscapes, and the largest concentration of hoodoos (irregular rock columns) on Earth! Situated at the top of the Grand Staircase, Bryce features a series of otherworldly structures carved into the edge of a high plateau. Its four main viewpoints are Bryce Point, Inspiration Point, Sunset Point, and Sunrise Point.

Provo Canyon Elopement

One of my favorite things about Utah is how incredibly diverse its landscape and elopement scenery options are! You can go from the desert canyon red rock goodness of Moab area, all the way to the mountainous and forested sights of Provo Canyon. A beautiful mountain town near Salt Lake City, Provo offers greenery and wildflowers in Spring and colorful fall foliage in autumn. Plus in the winter you can enjoy snow and skiing or snowboarding! Driving through the scenic byway in the Fall is an absolute must-see, and a beautiful option for your elopement.

Goblin Valley State Park Elopement

Goblin Valley State Park is another iconic spot where you’ll find some of Utah’s distinctive rock formations, where soft sandstone has eroded over time into unique shapes that somewhat resemble “goblins” - hence the name! Because of its otherworldly scenery, this spot has even been used in Hollywood movies! With it’s beautiful views, ATV trails, mountain hiking trails, camping, and picnic areas, this is a great spot for eloping in Utah!

Monument Valley Elopement

An iconic symbol of the American West, Monument Valley is the sacred heart of the Navajo Nation residing on the border of Utah and Arizona. Carved by wind and water over thousands of years, this vast desert plain features deep canyons and towering buttes with views unlike anything else! Some of the many major monuments to see are The Mittens, Three Sisters, Totem Pole, and more! You can even go horseback riding through this amazing place, there’s also a tiny little town there with a lodge, camping, and some eateries!

Lake Powell Elopement

I’ve been boating on Lake Powell a few times and it honestly feels like swimming in the Grand Canyon! This beautiful “lake” is actually a man-made reservoir on the Colorado River, sitting on the border of Utah and Arizona. You can check out the sunrise at Reflection Canyon by boat or a long hike for a backpacking trip, or you can go for a short hike at the Rainbow Bridge National Monument, and you can do some fun water activities if that’s your thing! With marvelous sandstone mesas, lovely blue waters, and mountains in the distance, this is an amazing spot for your Utah elopement!

Bonneville Salt Flats Elopement

Located near the Utah-Nevada border, the Bonneville Salt Flats are one of the most unique natural features in Utah, spanning over 30,000 acres of white salt crust on the western edge of the Great Salt Lake basin. When they’re dry, the salt flats are an endless sparkling white desert scenery, and when they’re wet (technically “flooded”), a thin layer of water covers the salt flats and reflects the sky and mountains for miles! You may get some salt on your clothes, but it’s totally worth it!

Antelope Island Elopement

Antelope Island State Park is the largest island in the Great Salt Lake where you can go swimming in the lake, camping, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and you can even see some wildlife like free-roaming American Bison and antelope herds! You can some backcountry trails, lake view, sandy beaches, and island scenery for your elopement in Utah!

Coral Pink Sand Dunes Elopement

The Coral Pink Sand Dunes feel like a vast and blissful playground! If you’ve ever visited sand dunes in general, you know what an amazing feeling that warm sand between your toes is, and the magic of the sand dancing in the wind. Fun fact: the sand comes from Navajo sandstone! A popular destination for off-roading ATV riders, these dunes offer vibrant desert hues and golden alpenglow at sunset!

Capitol Reef National Park Elopement

Capitol Reef National Park, located in Utah’s south-central desert, features layers of golden sandstone, vast landscapes, limitless desert views, striking rock formations, and epic canyons. Some of the great spots in the park are Capitol Reef, Chimney Rock pillar, and the Hickman Bridge arch. They say that Capitol Reef gives you a feel for what Earth might have been like before life appeared!

Amangiri Resort Elopement

The Amangiri Resort in Canyon Point, Utah provides the perfect way to combine luxury and adventure and would be amazing for a romantic weekend getaway! It provides easy access to Utah’s National Parks and other beautiful lands, and you can even reach Horseshoe Bend and Page, AZ since the AZ border is just a few minutes from the resort! Framing the surrounding dunes, plateaus, and mountain ridges, the Amangiri Resort suites offer a glamorous way to enjoy the nearby wilderness in style!
